Long-time music supporter and promoter Manfred „The Elk" Breiner
notes on the rear sleeve of the Jaybirds' debut. "About three years ago
four lads met by accident. They had one thing in common: a desperate love for
60s R & B by the likes of early Stones, Manfred Mann or John Mayall and The
Bluesbreakers. Their passion was so strong that they started their own
band..."
And that's how most garage bands are born, out of a desire to add to the legacy formed by their heroes. The Jaybirds do a good job of paying homage to their R & B roots fathers, and should be commended for sticking predominately to original material rather than simply regurgitating old standards. (Timothy Gassen in "Knights Of Fuzz")

Here's a band that "fools" us a little bit.. Hair like a rebellious mop top, the sound, some
album art and even the promotional clips make us believe that it is a band
"born and raised" in the 1960s.
However, this is not the case with The Jaybirds from Austria. The band formed in Vienna in 1989 has Bernhard Gold on vocals, Norb Payr and Pat Nagl on guitars, Markus Zöchling on bass and Thomas Schmitzberger on drums. They are acclaimed as one of the best bands to make a mod / r'n'b / freakbeat sound in Europe, and they certainly deserve all the praise.
With songs ranging from The Standells and The Sorrows to The Leaves, also featuring compositions from the band itself, this album is certainly the best option for anyone who wants to know the band and what is the best export from Europe. -Source
