Fast, furious and fun could have easily been the title of this one as it
certainly sums it up quite nicely. Prime rocket fueled 60’s garage pounders
that’ll get you up and dancing whether you want to or not. It’s got that good
fast energetic beat, lots of fuzz, throbbing organ and all of the screams and
snarls the recipe calls for to make your evening complete! 7 band penned
originals and a ripping version of ‘Hey Joe’ all add up to some major fun. And
one more reason to grab this one for your next shindig, Ex-Fuzztone/Speedie
John Carlucci handles the bottom end in this combo… a current fave on Radio
What Wave! -Dave O’Halloran
The Beat The Killers, are a Los Angeles quintet composed of musicians
from bands like the Fuzztones, Hexxers, Red Onions, among others, and this is
his debut, "Beat, Broken, Bruised" it is without a doubt a record,
that for its simplicity and intensity it could not escape me, "60´s garage
rock", “fuzz/farfisa” and creaking surf guitars, are present on this
record, but the “delivery” in the interpretation is of volume savagely
"punk", opening the motto is given "feel the power of
rock'n'roll" in "Killer Beat Strut," "Gimme a Kiss" is
fabulous, composed of a guitar accompanied by deambulante farfisa that back in
"Kids Are Getting Restless" and " What You Gonna Do! "
which closes the record with "fuzz", adding it even more frenzy, causing
us to lose the ability to hold back the heat inside, which in this time is no
longer controlled, returning to take pleasure in listening again "Beat,
Broken, Bruised". -Francisco Ribeiro
Make no mistake, this is
not a Beat band in the English Beat sense. Los Angeles' Beat Killers are an
out-and-out garage punk band with such influences as the Stooges, MC5 and The
Swinging Neckbreakers. The music is fast, aggressive and melodic with good,
strong vocals. Of relatively current bands, they most remind me of the Seattle
band The Makers, but with the addition of a farfisa/organ to the mix. The Beat
Killers are relentless. Don't expect any ballads; these guys rock! -Don@Amazon
